It's been three months since I adopted 2 hounds from the kennel. I had already decided to take one that had been there for a long time and was pointed toward two males. I guess you could say that I was picked by Sunny. There was also a little girl that had been returned, due to unforeseen circumstances that caught my eye. I couldn't take them right away because I still had to fence in my yard, so I didn't make my choice that day. I came back about a month later and told them that I wanted Sunny and Goody. So there were signs placed on their crates that said "ADOPTED". They both seemed happy. They went outside to play. They really liked each other. One of the women told me that Sunny had some issues with space and food aggression and he also would potty in his crate. But, since I am home all day, I thought I could work with him.

The next month, when I came to take them home, I walked into the shelter, looked over the crates, and Sunny was watching me. When I got a little closer, he started wagging all over. He was so excited to see me. Goody was a little reserved, but was happy to go for a ride in the car.
Sunny had a little problem getting along with my 2 cats, but they have made it clear to him that they do not want to be bothered. Everything is fine now, but he still tries to play with them once in a while. Goody doesn't care about them at all.

Goody is a sweet little girl who likes to sleep a lot and never causes any problems. She will go out to the way back of the yard and just sit there till I call her. Then she comes running as fast as she can. She loves to run around the yard, and she is much faster than Sunny.
Sunny has never shown any aggression and not once has he tried to lift his leg in the house. As a matter of fact, he barks to go out. I guess being happy and loved can make even a trying dog a good dog. He has even become a K-9 Blood Donor.

We have a regular routine. (Sunny likes it that way. Goody doesn't care.) We get up at 6am to potty and eat breakfast. At 8am we must go out to do our business. Then we nap most of the day with a couple outdoor breaks. At 4pm, when my husband gets home, we simply must go for a walk. Then it is dinner at 5pm, last call break at 8:30pm and finally bed at 10pm. Sunny has done a wonderful job of training me and it only took him 3 months.

Thanks for taking care of them while they waited for us!
